Album Cover Design

Oxymoron is a gritty masterpiece created by West Coast rapper Schoolboy Q. The album merges themes of both luxury and suffering as byproducts of life as a drug dealer. My album cover strives to embrace both aspects of that lifestyle. The design features a marble statue of Schoolboy Q adorned with grills and gold chains to symbolize luxury, while the blindfold and golden tears reflect his blindness to the pain caused by his life as both a dealer and addict.

Throughout this design process, I learned how to use symbolic imagery to develop a beautifully cohesive design, while also significantly expanding my knowledge of Photoshop. Every detail in this design was intentional, carefully chosen to reflect the complexity of the album.

The rose on the back cover symbolizes both beauty and pain, serving as a metaphor that represents the duality of life as a drug dealer that Schoolboy Q refers to in is album.
