Woodcut Exploration

Throughout this project, I attempted to capture the persona of MF DOOM through a medium completely new to me. Throughout this process, I aimed to blend bold pop cultural elements with traditional printmaking techniques. My final piece is a modernized version of a piece by Frans Masereel called “The Geschaftsmann”.

I began the process digitally, using my design skills to plan the composition, and then translated it into a finalized woodcut print. This process was extremely interesting as I was able to combine both modern and traditional methods of graphic design to create a complex composition reflective of MF DOOM’s villainous persona.
